End User License Agreement
This agreement defines the license granted when you purchase Cairn.
Effective August 19, 2026
License grant
Subject to this agreement and payment of the purchase price, P 10 Q LLC ("p10q") grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Cairn on compatible Macs that you own or control.
The license is for one individual. A company may purchase separate licenses for individual users. The license does not permit a shared key, concurrent use by unrelated users, resale, sublicensing, rental, or distribution of Cairn.
Permitted use
You may use Cairn for personal or commercial software-development work. You are responsible for the commands you run, the code and data you expose to coding agents or remote systems, and the permissions granted to Cairn and third-party tools.
Restrictions
You may not:
- share, publish, sell, or distribute your license key or copies of Cairn;
- circumvent or interfere with license validation or access controls;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble proprietary parts of Cairn except to the extent applicable law expressly permits it;
- remove proprietary notices or misrepresent Cairn as your product; or
- use Cairn in violation of law or to gain unauthorized access to another system.
Open-source components
Cairn includes open-source software, including the Ghostty terminal core. Those components remain subject to their respective licenses and notices. If an open-source license grants rights that conflict with this agreement, that open-source license controls for the relevant component.
License validation
Cairn may send the Gumroad product identifier and your license key to Gumroad to confirm the purchase state. The key and validation state are stored in the macOS Keychain. A refunded, disputed, charged-back, invalid, or revoked purchase may stop validating and may lose licensed access.
Updates
Updates that p10q makes available for this license are included at no additional charge. Updates may add, change, or remove functionality. You are responsible for maintaining a compatible operating system and backing up your data before installing an update.
Ownership
Cairn is licensed, not sold. p10q and its licensors retain all rights not expressly granted in this agreement. Your code, terminal contents, credentials, and other user data remain yours.
Termination
This license ends automatically if you materially violate this agreement. On termination, you must stop using Cairn and delete copies under your control. Sections concerning ownership, disclaimers, liability, and applicable open-source licenses survive termination.
Disclaimer and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cairn is provided "as is" without implied warranties. p10q is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, code, profit, or business opportunity. p10q's total liability will not exceed the amount you paid for Cairn. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.
